Fall Florals

Is it just me, or is it taking everyone a bit longer to get back into the swing of things? I usually unpack the day I get home from a trip, but I’ve had ZERO energy to do anything after I get home from work this week. Hopefully, next week I’ll get back into my regular routine..

One of my absolute favorite trends in the fall is darker, moodier florals. I picked up this dress (on sale!!) before my trip to Arizona and felt like it could easily transition from fall to spring. Since it was 80 degrees in Arizona last week, I was able to wear it with open toe heels and this suede moto jacket, but it would look really cute with heeled booties, (love these &  these too!

Side note: when Kurt and I were in New York last month, we went into the Club Monaco store on 5th Avenue! (If you haven’t been, GO!) The store is absolutely beautiful, and I want everything! (They have great men’s clothes too!) It’s a little on the pricier side, but they have amazing sales! They usually put items on sale, and then they’ll run promos – (i.e. 30% off sale!) I scooped this dress up while I was there..

How do you feel about florals in fall?

Embroidered Mules

Happy Thursday! I don’t know about you, but I’m having a MAJOR moment with all of the fun, fall trends! It feels that this year, I’ve been shopping more than usual (whoops!!) because there are so many pretty trends happening! I’m loving all things velvet, brocade and embroidered. They’re so fun and different for fall!

A few weekends ago, Devin and I did a little fall shopping at Lori’s Shoes in Lincoln Park, and I found these amazing embroidered mules! For everyday, I normally dress pretty casual – so I thought these were fun, but added a pop of color and some interest to a very simple look.

As most of you know, I’m not one who takes big fashion risks – and these mules are different for me! I’ve had so much fun wearing them so far, and have dressed them up and down.

What are your thoughts on this trend?

bell-sleeve top

Hi loves! I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start.

After a busy weekend, I’m looking forward to having a productive week. Monday’s are always a good day to reset and refocus.. don’t you think?!

I’ve been really excited to share this look with you guys because these jeans are everything. Seriously, EVERYTHING!  I found them at the cutest boutique in Highland Park (more to come in Friday’s post), but they are legit the comfiest pair I own. Em and I always have a hard time finding denim that we love, but I found this pair for under $100. Emily went out and bought the same pair..

I paired the jeans with this fun, bell-sleeved top from Target. This Fall, it’s all about the unique detailing – with embroidery, lace, or ruffles. This top comes in black and grey, and I loved it so much, I bought both colors. I know I’ll get SO much use out of them all fall and winter.

Easy Breezy!

In case you haven’t noticed, we have been having a MAJOR crush on dresses this summer. Both of our “9-5’s” have a very casual dress code, so our “play” clothes oftentimes double as our work-wear. Because of that, it sometimes is too easy to justify shopping..

Dresses and rompers are just so easy to throw on, while at the same time, make you look put together! All you need is a pair of sunnies and cute flats, or wedges. We love transitioning them from Summer into Fall by throwing on a suede or leather motorcycle jacket and booties.

Although we wish we had unlimited funds for shopping (a girl can dream, right??), we love finding great pieces at a great price. One of our favorite online shops, TOBI, offers cute, on-trend pieces for an affordable price. Their prices are very affordable as-is, but they also run great promos. (P.S. They’re running a 50% off promo now for dresses. Enter code: CH50).

Here are the links to the looks we’re wearing:

Emily (red look)
Tote | Wedges | Dress | Sunnies

Devin (purple look)
Moto Jacket | Dress | Sunnies | Bag

Then, here’s Emily’s printed floral dress, and here’s the link to Devin’s olive green dress (comes in 3 colors!)

Here are a few other items we have our eye on right now:

  1. This olive slit dress would be fun with a pair of sneakers
  2. Emily has this jacket in green; we want the black and cognac color!
  3. This pretty mauve dress would be perfect for a fall wedding

Thanks for reading, xo!

Transitional Pieces: from Summer to Fall

Can you believe that it is the last day of August? It seems crazy to think that we are only a few weeks away from Fall. I’ve been thinking a lot about investing in a few staple pieces that can easily transition from season-to-season.
Here are a few pieces I am looking to buy, that can easily transition from summer to fall.

 1) Jean skirtIt’s so easy to throw on a jean skirt in the summer and pair it with a simple t-shirt and sandals, but I plan on also wearing it this fall with a chunky sweater and booties. Here are two options I’m loving (#1#2)

 2) Lightweight sweaters or cardigan: A neutral cardigan is perfect for a cooler, fall day with booties and jeans, but it also can be worn now with a dress. I bought this one during the anniversary sale, and love this one

3) Booties: Booties can easily transition from summer to fall. They look adorable paired with flouncy dresses and skirts in the summer, but are the perfect fall staple. You can’t go wrong with this black pair, or this camel pair

4) Distressed jeans: A pair of distressed jeans are a must, and they are always cute! You can wear them rolled up with a tee, or paired with a chunky sweater and leather jacket in the fall. Loving this pair (on sale!!) and these

5.) Jean jacket: A jean jacket is light enough for cool, summer nights, but also a great choice for fall; it looks so cute thrown over a flannel, or maxi dress. These two shades are perfect for transitioning from summer to fall: One, Two

Floral Wrap Dress

Today, I’m talking about one trend I can’t get enough of this summer: wrap dresses!  This trend has been so popular, and there are so many fun, different prints. From polka dots, stars, and colorful florals, these dresses can easily transition from summer into fall.

I paired my look with nude sandals (love this fun, embellished pair) and this wicker, bucket bag – but I am planning on wearing it with booties and a suede, camel jacket for fall.

My floral dress is from Vici Collection (it is currently sold out), but they make really cute dresses at such an affordable price. Below are some of my favorite wrap dresses that can be worn now and easily transition into next season:
Reformation Mini Dress | Reformation Midi Dress | TopShop Floral Dress | Privacy Please Dress | Vici Collection Dress | Ruched Maxi Dress

Hope you all have a great week!

Gingham: The Print of Summer

Happy Wednesday, loves! This summer, gingham is EVERYWHERE. We love the print, as it just screams summer. We picked up a few pieces for our closets in black and white gingham. Now that summer is almost over, there are a TON of rompers, dresses, and tops on sale in the gingham print.

Here are some of our favorite pieces :
Romper (Under $50) | Top (yellow) | Top (pink) | Gingham Set |
Wrap Top | OTS Top | Strapless Top

I snagged the top I’m wearing from the Zara sale, but I love all the items I linked above.

Hope you all love this look, xo!

All Wrapped Up

Happy Wednesday, guys! In today’s post, I’m wearing a fun, red and white striped wrap top. I actually ended up finding this top on major sale at Zara! If you are a patient shopper, Zara really does have the best sales. I wore this top all weekend long (no joke) and received so many compliments on it.. I’ve linked a few similar tops here, herehere. Mules have been my go-to this summer! They are so easy to throw on with shorts, jeans or a sundress. These ones are some of my faves!  During the summer, I absolutely LOVE wearing jean shorts but they are always so difficult to find. The ones I look for are typically “boyfriend” style. For someone my height, they are a perfect length. Here’s a pair I am currently eyeing.

embroidered mini-dress

Happy Monday! I bought this fun, embroidered mini dress for a bachelorette weekend in Colorado. The bachelorette party’s theme was a “weekend in the woods,” so I thought this dress would be perfect because it is casual, and can easily transition from day to night.

Typically, I opt for more muted colors, but felt that the pop of color in this dress was so fun and different for me. It has the cutest detailing, from the embroidered flowers to the billowy sleeves.  I paired the dress with my favorite wedges (I wear them with everything!) and my Cult Gaia clutchI feel like this is a perfect dress to transition into fall with suede mules or booties. The best part? It’s currently on sale and under $100!

I hope you all have a great week!

Red, White and Blue

The week leading up to a holiday always feels SO long.. doesn’t it?? It is hard to believe that the 4th of July is right around the corner, but we are very excited to both be staying in Chicago for the long weekend.

We had fun shooting a red, white and blue look together last weekend. I found this dress at Club Monaco, and I couldn’t love it more. It is so easy, breezy and will be perfect all summer. I’ll even probably wear into the fall with a leather jacket and clogs!

I paired the dress with white mules, and this bluish-grey bag from Nordstrom. Sometimes, wearing all three colors can be a little overkill, but I thought by keeping it simple and not mixing in patterns, all three of these pieces looked festive together for the 4th of July!

Hope you all love this look!
